PC image analysis heading

ImageJ is a powerful imaging program developed by the National Institutes of Health. It is a Java program in the public domain and can be run as an online applet or downloaded. Versions are available for download for Windows, MacOS, MacOS X, and LINUX operating systems. The program is designed to display, manipulate, and analyze images of different file formats. It allows for “stacks,” multiple images layered in a single window, and is multithreaded so that time-intensive operations can be performed in parallel.
ImageJ’s can calculate area and pixel value statistics of user-defined selections. It can measure distances and angles. It can create density histograms and line profile plots. It supports standard image processing functions such as contrast manipulation, sharpening, smoothing, edge detection, and median filtering. It does geometric transformations such as scaling, rotation, and flips. Images can be zoomed up to 32:1 and down to 1:32. All analysis and processing functions are available at any magnification factor. The program supports any number of windows (images) simultaneously. Spatial calibration is available to provide real world dimensional measurements in units such as millimeters. Density or gray scale calibrations are also available.
Living Image® software is the image acquisition and analysis product from Xenogen. It provides a straightforward interface for imaging and data collection. The camera control panel sets and displays all imaging parameters, from exposure time to lens aperture and focus. The process is designed to minimize setup time and maximize throughput.
MicroView® is a visualization and analysis tool for micro-CT imaging. Volume and slice analysis can be done quickly and easily using simple controls. Volume data can then be exported out in the standard DICOM format for use with other software packages.
Nuance/Maestro® software is the image acquisition and analysis product from CRI. It provides easy-to-use control panels that set and display all imaging parameters, from exposure time to wavelength ranges. Once acquisition is complete, the analysis section can quickly and accurately extract desired fluorescent signal from the autofluorescent background.
