The Longwood Small Animal Imaging Facility (Longwood SAIF) at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center was created to provide state-of-the-art service to researchers in the Longwood Medical Area and beyond. The Longwood SAIF is the creation of Robert E. Lenkinski, Ph.D., and John V. Frangioni, M.D., Ph.D,, and our goal is to provide excellent customer service and continually expand and upgrade our facility by adding new imaging modalities and analytical tools as they become available.

To make the best use of our services and get the most out of your time, we suggest you speak directly with Dr. Lenkinski or Dr. Frangioni about which techniques and imaging modalities best suit your studies.

Animal experiments are designed and conducted in accordance with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles. The Longwood SAIF complies with AAALAC (Association for Assessment & Accreditation of Lab Animal Care) regulations and all federal, state and local laws. The Animal Research Facility at the BIDMC has full AAALAC accreditation and PHS Assurance with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW). Our Animal Welfare Assurance number is A3153-01.
